This course is designed to familiarize each participant with essential knowledge, skills, strategies and methods used to identify suicidal behavior and offer solutions used to intervene effectively and help prevent suicide.

The You Matter Suicide Prevention Course is not a timed course, however the average time to complete this course is approximately 2 hours.
Navigating the course is as simple scrolling from top to bottom and clicking next to continue or back to go back.
Instructions To Navigate Through This Course:
1. Read and study each lesson page from top to bottom
2. Once you have completed each lesson click “COMPLETE”. The Navigation bar at the bottom of the page will turn green and you will receive credit for completing the page.

3. Once a lesson page has been completed click on the “Next” Arrow to proceed to the next lesson

4. To go back to the previous page click the back arrow.

5. Click the “Menu” icon located at the top left of the page to navigate to a lesson of your choice.
6. Select a lesson from the course menu by clicking on the lesson title

Quizes require a score of 60% or better to receive certification. When taking a quiz select the correct answer for each question.
Once you submit your answers your score will be displayed.
If you score less than 60% remediation will occur and the answers will be displayed for you to study.
When you are ready retake the quiz and attempt to achieve a higher score.

Suicide is defined as “the act of causing one’s own death voluntarily and intentionally”. In simple terms taking one’s own life.
Statistics related to suicide change daily, however in any given year 12 out of 100,000 people commit suicide, which amounts to approximately1.5% of all deaths worldwide.
This course will give you a brief history of suicide, cover the study of suicide, identify signs and risk factors, and present methods and ways to intervene and help prevent suicide.
